What’s new

We ship small improvements often. This page lists the changes worth calling out, newest first: new features, refinements, and fixes.

  1. The free practice exam gets its own page

    • NewA new page explains the free full-length practice exam before you sign up: what is on the 90-question paper, how the sitting runs, what you get back, and what a plan adds. The free tools page and the 30-question practice test now link to it.

  2. A free SY0-801 practice test and an exam check-in

    • NewNew free SY0-801 practice test: 30 questions for the next version of Security+. Each one shows the V8 objective it tests, and most cover topics that are new in V8. No account needed.
    • NewThe day after your exam date, you get one short email asking how it went, with a link to answer in one tap. It is part of the exam countdown emails, so the same switch in Settings turns it off.
    • ImprovedAfter a missed quiz, today's plan has you redo what you got wrong before the retake, and two misses in a row send you back to the lesson first.
    • ImprovedToday's plan now asks you to retake a quiz you passed within 4 hours of a miss, so your readiness score can count it.
    • ImprovedYour first day back after two or more days off is now a shorter one: a handful of review cards and a single objective.
    • FixedPractice drills and the other optional rows on today's plan now tick off when you start them, instead of staying open all day.
    • FixedThe crossed-out price under Compare plans and the hint inside empty category boxes are now easier to read.

  3. Easier lessons, a clearer home page and an email switch

    • ImprovedEach lesson has one switch under its title to read it, watch it, listen to it or be taught it, in place of buttons spread around the page.
    • ImprovedGlossary terms in lessons now show their definition when you hover over them the first time they come up, not only the few written in bold.
    • ImprovedSets of parallel ideas, like the six control types, now sit side by side as cards, so lessons scroll less and their outlines are shorter. Lists no longer split a sentence at its bold words, and smaller subheadings make each section's shape easier to see.
    • ImprovedThe security controls lesson keeps each control category in the same color across both figures and the lab, and the lab now defines a category the same way the lesson does.
    • NewSettings, under Email, has a new Stop all email button that ends every email from us, and a button to turn email back on.
    • ImprovedThe home page now has a button near the top to try a real PBQ with no account, and its numbers count what is in the course instead of what is on the exam.
    • ImprovedMember reviews and the note about why the site exists now come before the prices on the home page.
    • ImprovedWhen GitHub sign-in is down, its button says how to reach your account with the same email, and it sits below the sign-in options that work.

  4. AI Teaching

    • NewNew AI Teaching section: pick an objective and a teacher explains it one small piece at a time, asks you a question after each piece, and tells you when you look ready for the quiz.
    • NewYour first session asks how you like to be taught, with bite-sized as the default, and you can change it whenever you want.
    • NewIf your app is set to Spanish, the teacher teaches in Spanish too, and the first time a key term comes up it gives you the English one next to it.
    • NewSessions count toward your study streak, and when the teacher says you are ready, the objective's reading is marked done.
    • NewSettings has a new AI Teaching section: your teaching style, how many messages you have left today, and a button to clear your conversations.
    • ImprovedThe teacher now works through the whole lesson for an objective, one part at a time, instead of one short summary per key point. Before the final questions it goes over what the exam focuses on.
    • ImprovedEach answer now shows whether it was right, and the checklist shows which part of a point you are on. Finishing an objective offers the next one, and the lesson page and the Today plan can start a session for you.
    • FixedOn a phone, tapping an answer no longer opens the keyboard or zooms the page, and the chat keeps the start of each reply in view.
    • ImprovedA new account's first Today screen is shorter. The streak grid, the progress link and product news wait until you have studied once, so the plan is the first thing you see.
    • NewObjective 1.1 is free to try. The other objectives come with the AI Teaching add-on, one payment on top of your plan. It is $15 through November 6 and $25 after that.
    • NewYou can tick Add AI Teaching on a plan at checkout and pay for both at once. Without a plan, the AI Teaching card now says it works on top of one and how to get it.
    • ImprovedThe pricing page now states the current offer once, above the plans. If you already have a plan, it shows your payments with their receipts and the last day you can get a refund.

  5. A quicker start, partial credit on PBQs, and question reports

    • ImprovedWhen the placement check ends, one button now opens a few minutes of Learn mode on the objective where you start.
    • ImprovedPBQs in quizzes and practice sets now earn partial credit, the same way the practice exam already scored them.
    • NewYour daily review email now asks one of your due cards, and tapping an answer opens it in the app to check.
    • ImprovedStarting the placement check from the welcome screen or your plan now opens the first question right away.
    • ImprovedYour plan now gives each lesson its own reading time instead of the same 8 minutes for all of them.
    • ImprovedChecking a review answer now asks whether you were sure, and the grade that fits is marked for you.
    • ImprovedLearn mode for 1.4 has two new cards: salting versus key stretching, and the missing intermediate certificate.
    • NewYou can report a problem with a question from under its explanation, and the report names the question for us.

  6. Security+ V8 news, and a safer free practice exam

    • ImprovedThe SY0-801 and 701-or-801 pages now show what CompTIA has published: the V8 exam code, its launch date and the new domain weights.
    • ImprovedSubmitting your free practice exam with questions left now reminds you it is your only free sitting, and offers pause or cancel instead.
    • ImprovedIf you are on the free plan and have not sat the free practice exam, your exam countdown emails now link straight to it.

  7. One full practice exam on the free plan

    • NewFree accounts can now sit one full practice exam: 90 timed questions across all five domains, scored on the 100 to 900 scale with a breakdown by domain. The paper is fixed and the same for every free account.
    • ImprovedYour day plan, the placement check, the practice test and the PBQ guide now point you to the free practice exam, and the pricing page says what it includes and what a plan adds.
    • ImprovedThe site and the app have a new look: plain labels instead of small capitals, a quieter header and sidebar, and cards that sit up off the page.

  8. Half off two weeks before your exam, and your flagged questions one click away

    • NewIf you are on the free plan, the email two weeks before your exam date now comes with 50% off either plan for 3 days. It shows on your dashboard and the pricing page too, and it is a one-time offer.
    • ImprovedThe flagged card on a mock exam report now opens the review on just the questions you flagged.
    • FixedPassing the last objective on the exam no longer tells you the next objective is open.

  9. A full-width lesson video, and email changes that say what they need

    • ImprovedYour mock exam report now also shows your score on the questions you had never answered before, since the real exam is all new questions.
    • ImprovedA mock now counts toward Exam ready only if you pass the questions that were new to you, when it had at least 30 of them.
    • ImprovedAfter your exam date passes, Today asks how it went only once, and you can say you have not taken it yet.
    • FixedOn a wide screen, the video under a lesson title now fills the reading column instead of a narrow strip with its label cut off.
    • FixedChanging your email now asks you to open the link sent to your old address as well as the new one, since the change waits for both.
    • FixedAn objective 1.3 question about an unexplained firewall rule now asks what would have prevented it, which is what its answer always said.
    • ImprovedLesson callouts and answer feedback have a thin outline all the way round in place of a colored edge on one side.
    • ImprovedA cleaner look across the home page, pricing and result screens: fewer boxes and glows, headings that break evenly, and plan buttons that line up.
    • ImprovedReview now comes back to every objective you have mastered, a few questions at a time, on gaps that start at a day and grow to months.
    • ImprovedWith an exam date set, review is planned so every mastered objective comes up at least twice before the exam, the later domains included.
    • ImprovedEach day's reviews now keep room for new questions from your mastered objectives, so a pile of older cards can no longer crowd them out.
    • ImprovedThe first review after you pass a quiz now comes the next day instead of minutes later.

  10. Reminders that catch up, and quiz scores that match the verdict

    • FixedA review reminder that could not go out at your hour now tries again over the next two hours.
    • ImprovedAfter two weeks away, the review reminder comes once a week, and goes back to daily the next time you study.
    • FixedA quiz you missed by a hair no longer shows 80% above the line that says you need 80%.

  11. Password resets that finish, and clearer PBQ answers

    • FixedIf a reset turns down your new password, you can pick another and finish with the same code. It used to ask for a new email.
    • ImprovedA missed performance-based question now marks each line of your answer right or wrong.
    • FixedA sign-up or reset code that does not work now tells you what to check.

  12. Your missed questions after a quiz, and sign-in fixes

    • ImprovedA failed quiz now lists the questions you missed, and each one opens with its explanation.
    • FixedSign-in no longer drops you on a device whose clock is set wrong, and the app now tells you when it is.
    • FixedSmall fixes: right and wrong answer marks are easier to read, and sign-in explains accounts made with Google.

  13. Easier reading in review, and small fixes

    • FixedThe grade buttons in review, the due count on the phone tab bar and a few badges are now easy to read in every theme.
    • FixedLong log lines in PBQ evidence, indicator drills and terminal labs can now be scrolled with the keyboard.
    • FixedSmall fixes: the mini mock no longer says Domain 1 has no PBQs, and screen readers no longer run a few labels together.

  14. Clearer account linking, and small fixes

    • FixedConnecting Google, GitHub or Discord in Settings now says whether it worked, and why when it did not.
    • FixedSmall fixes: finished tasks on Today read clearly in the dark theme, and the extensions page links its policies again.

  15. Three free guides for the weeks before your exam

    • NewFree guides for the last stretch: a cram sheet for the final two days, a 14-day study plan, and what to do if you need a retake.

  16. After your exam, and a clearer video library

    • NewTelling Today how your exam went now opens a short card: congratulations after a pass, or the retake rules and next steps after a miss.
    • FixedVideos you cannot open yet now show a lock and the objective that opens them, instead of leading to a locked lesson.
    • FixedWhen a Google or other provider sign-in does not finish, the sign-in page now says why instead of leaving you on the home page.

  17. Quiz retakes on fresh questions

    • ImprovedQuiz retakes now start with questions you have not seen, and a pass within 4 hours of a miss counts toward readiness once a later pass confirms it.
    • ImprovedA pass held back after a miss now shows the time a retake starts to count.

  18. Smoother motion, and steadier lessons on a phone

    • ImprovedPages settle into place as they open, answers react when you pick and check them, and passing a quiz gets a small celebration.
    • ImprovedSwitching themes in Settings sweeps the new colors in from the one you picked, and the phone tab bar highlights where you are.
    • FixedOn a phone, lessons no longer slide sideways, and the pop-up definition on a bold term stays on screen.
    • FixedOn a free plan, the calendar on Today names the paid objective on the day you reach it, instead of marking a free one Locked.
    • ImprovedSmall labels on Today, the study-mode pages and the videos page are darker and easier to read.

  19. A sister course for CompTIA A+, and a new look for the study modes

    • NewAPlus Mastery, a separate course for the two CompTIA A+ exams, is open in beta; your account already signs in to it.
    • ImprovedLearn mode, Scenarios, Terminal labs and the Indicator and Diagram drills open with a preview of a round and a clear way in.
    • ImprovedToday shows your streak, and the header icons are redrawn to one size.
    • ImprovedOnce you have started the A+ course, its sidebar link opens your course instead of the A+ home page.
    • NewIn Settings, Default platform picks where signing in takes you: SecPlus Mastery or APlus Mastery.
    • FixedSaving the exam date the Today page suggests no longer fails with an out-of-range message.

  20. A target for your first two days, and a streak that counts real work

    • NewYour plan now shows how many questions you have answered in your first two days, and the forty that most people who stick with this have cleared by then.
    • ImprovedOn the free practice pages the whole row opens the answer, not just the words, so it is easier to hit on a phone.
    • ImprovedIf your exam is within a month, the first-week email about your discount says how long you have left rather than talking about the price on its own.
    • FixedOpening a timed sitting or the free sample no longer counts as a study day on its own. Your streak and your active days now start when you answer the first question.
    • FixedThe first-week note about your welcome discount no longer goes missing on the morning after your first study day.

  21. Honest promises on the session card, and a date that shows up

    • FixedThe session card no longer says a reminder lands tomorrow when tomorrow is a day you have turned reminders off for.
    • FixedYour exam date now fills the field on a device that is still loading your account, instead of leaving it blank under the countdown.
    • FixedTomorrow's card count is a calendar day rather than the next twenty-four hours, so the night the clocks change does not add a day of reviews that is not coming.
    • FixedWhen email is down, the notice names only the sign-in options the site is actually offering.

  22. A target date in one click, and tomorrow named before you leave

    • NewNot booked yet? Setup and your plan now offer a target exam date six weeks out in one click, so the plan counts days from day one.
    • NewThe session card says how many cards come back tomorrow and when your reminder lands, before the day is done.
    • ImprovedThe morning after your first study day, the email is about the cards waiting for you rather than the price.
    • ImprovedReminders go out at your own local hour from the first day; the app no longer waits for a visit to Settings to learn your time zone.
    • FixedA missing page now offers signed-out visitors the home page and a sign-in instead of a dashboard they cannot open.

  23. Signing in with Discord, and search ranks the right word first

    • NewYou can sign in with Discord now, next to Google and GitHub. An account on the same email address is the same account whichever way you arrive, and Settings shows which of the three are connected.
    • FixedSearching a word now puts the terms about it ahead of terms that only contain it inside another word.
    • NewBlog posts show how long they take to read, on the list and above the post.
    • ImprovedIf the classroom roster fails to load, a Try again button reloads it without leaving the page.
    • FixedScreen readers now name the related-terms section on every glossary page.

  24. The review form opens when you arrive

    • FixedFollowing a "leave a review" link now lands on the open form instead of a folded card you had to click again.
    • ImprovedThe Invite card opens on its own when you pick Invite in Settings.
    • FixedThe rule under a blog post title no longer sits flush against the contents box below it.
    • FixedHighlighted notes inside a blog post are readable again on the dark themes; they were pale text on a pale box.
    • ImprovedBlog cards, the contents box and quoted text now stand out from the page instead of blending into it.

  25. A real PBQ first, and one question for buyers

    • NewSign up from the free PBQ page and the first thing you get is a ten-question sitting with a real PBQ in it.
    • NewA week after you buy a plan, one email asks how it is going and whether you would leave a review.
    • FixedThe classroom page now says the roster could not load instead of showing a generic error box.
    • ImprovedThe days ahead on Today show the whole objective name on a phone instead of cutting it off.
    • FixedThe mini mock called a paid account a free one.
    • FixedThe related terms under a glossary entry could push the page wider than a phone screen.
    • ImprovedThe logo now takes the colours of whichever theme you pick instead of staying blue on all of them.
    • ImprovedScenario cards draw their artwork on a blueprint sheet with some depth to it, on every theme.

  26. Where you stand on the next exam version

    • NewTwo free pages on the next Security+ version: what the V8 draft changes, and whether to book SY0-701 now or wait.
    • NewA free AI security module covering prompt injection, model poisoning, and deepfake phishing, with nine practice questions.
    • ImprovedEvery Lifetime buy button now names the exam it covers and says the V8 update is included free.
    • FixedThe share button on your mock exam result stayed on "Copied" forever, so a second copy told you nothing.
    • ImprovedCopying your result, or a class join code, now says so out loud for screen readers, and says when the browser blocked it.

  27. Flashcards and the mini mock

    • FixedSwitching browser tabs with Ctrl+1 while a flashcard was flipped marked it as known.
    • FixedReloading the mini mock results screen counted it as another finished sitting.

  28. Streaks, redo drills, and the rest of the day

    • FixedA streak you kept across your rest days showed as 0, and pulled your readiness score down with it.
    • FixedRedoing missed questions asked only the first ten of them, however many the button offered.
    • FixedToday's review count could jump after the page loaded and leave no room for the rest of the plan.
    • FixedA terminal lab kept the Tab key, so you could not reach the answer box without a mouse.
    • FixedYour data download was missing your study emails, trusted browsers, and free domain sittings.
    • FixedThe weekly summary email said you had mastered 0 objectives no matter how many you had.
    • FixedA large class could show a student as inactive on the instructor roster while they were studying.

  29. No third-party analytics, and a shorter log

    • ImprovedWe dropped our analytics provider and removed its script, so no page you read here is reported to anyone outside the providers our Privacy Policy lists.
    • FixedA free domain sample you came back to days later could show nine questions and grade you out of ten.
    • ImprovedThis page says more in fewer words: one entry a change, one release a day.

  30. Set Today up the way you study

    • NewSettings has a Today section: set the minutes you have, pick a pace, and choose what a session may include.
    • NewTerminal labs, diagram drills, indicator drills, scenarios and flashcards can now appear on your daily plan.
    • ImprovedA quiz is timed at your own pace rather than a flat seven minutes, so the size of your day fits how you work.
    • FixedDiagram boards size their positions to the label, and connectors run between areas instead of down the edge.

  31. Sign in with GitHub

    • NewYou can sign in with GitHub now, next to Google, and Settings lists which accounts yours is connected to.
    • NewIf our email provider has hit its daily limit, you can create the account anyway and verify the address later.
    • ImprovedSetup no longer asks for your exam date when you have already given it, including on a second device.

  32. Terminal labs and diagram drills grow up

    • ImprovedEach terminal lab now asks two or three questions in the order you would work it, unlocking one at a time.
    • NewLabs stay finished: the hub marks one solved, and solving it counts toward your study day.
    • NewDiagram drills gained a mixed drill, buttons to jump between boards, and a redo for the ones you missed.
    • NewOne free set per mode outside Domain 1, plus a new access review lab on 4.6 and new boards on 4.4.

  33. Two new ways to practise, and a shorter way in

    • NewIndicator drills: judge one alert at a time as a true positive, a false positive, or needing more data. 63 alerts, every domain.
    • NewDiagram drills: drag devices onto a network map, scored per position with partial credit. 27 boards across 9 objectives.
    • ImprovedSetup is one screen, the placement check answers in about three minutes, and day one is a single objective.
    • NewThe home page and the PBQ guide each carry a real graded performance-based question, no account needed.
    • FixedThe exam countdown emails were not going out. They are now, for anyone with the countdown switched on.

  34. A command line you can practise in

    • NewTerminal labs: a simulated Linux host, real commands, and one question answered from what the output shows. Twelve labs, three free.
    • ImprovedEvery lesson now carries at least two figures, 87 in all, with numbers, legends and readable typography.
    • NewA bug button and a lightbulb button in the header send a report without leaving the page you found it on.
    • FixedToday no longer overestimates a review session. It reads how long your cards have actually been taking you.

  35. Class seats, and a clearer mock exam page

    • NewSchools can license a block of seats for a semester. Pricing and a quote form are on the schools page.
    • ImprovedThe mock exam breakdown names the sitting it came from, and opens that attempt when you click it.

  36. Our mailing address, and a sale that ends on time

    • ImprovedOur mailing address is now in the footer, on the contact page, in both policies, and in every email we send.
    • FixedA sale that ended while you had the site open could keep showing the discounted price until you refreshed.

  37. Work that quietly went missing

    • FixedPassing an objective quiz could leave it with no review cards at all, so it never came up in review.
    • FixedOn a shared computer, signing back in as someone else could carry the first account’s queue and streak over.
    • FixedReview cards misread their own dates, so a card rated at 9pm claimed you had reviewed it again the next morning.
    • ImprovedYour daily plan appears immediately instead of sitting behind a loading placeholder while we check the server.

  38. Answers that gave themselves away

    • FixedThe free practice pages answered A more than half the time. They shuffle now, like every page inside the app.
    • FixedHotspot questions never put the answer first, and picking again replaces your answer instead of keeping both.
    • FixedPassing a quiz on a slow connection could be undone by an earlier attempt landing after it.
    • FixedA round of smaller fixes across pricing copy, data export, password rules and email delivery.

  39. A pass over the things that were quietly wrong

    • FixedYour plan could lose days, or put your first mock exam after the exam itself, when the date was close.
    • FixedPlacing out of several Domain 1 objectives at once buried you in review cards on the same day.
    • FixedChanging a setting and closing the tab straight away could undo itself at the next sign-in.
    • FixedThe two-factor panel said two-factor was off when it simply could not check.

  40. Today: your study plan, dated to your exam

    • NewToday is the new home screen. It lays every objective you have left onto the calendar between now and your exam.
    • NewHeavier domains get more days, and a free account still sees the whole exam with real dates on it.
    • FixedLosing your authenticator no longer costs you the account: the reset page takes a recovery code.
    • FixedThe placement check is reachable again, and Today stopped quoting review cards it will not show you.

  41. A calmer default, and a look at a locked domain

    • NewA free account gets one timed sitting from a locked domain: ten real questions, scored like the mock exam.
    • ImprovedThe app opens in Nord, a softer slate blue, rather than the stark high-contrast look.

  42. The site holds together when you translate it

    • FixedOnce a page had been translated by your browser, the next thing that changed on screen could blank the view.

  43. Your exam date stays where you put it

    • FixedA cleared exam date or exam result no longer comes back from a device that had not caught up.
    • FixedOpening a video lesson no longer records the objective over and over on a slow connection.
    • FixedThe daily review reminder counts everyone it should, and a referral link still credits whoever shared it.

  44. Your mock exam saves, and your queue is all of it

    • FixedA mock exam landing exactly on the pass line failed to save and ran its 90 minutes out unscored.
    • FixedYour review queue shows every card in it, past the thousand-row read limit that was hiding the rest.
    • FixedSigning in on a shared browser no longer inherits the last person’s study days, streak or flashcard run.
    • FixedYour daily question goal is sized from how fast you answer, not from review time counted as answering.

  45. Stats that say what to fix next

    • NewThe stats page shows every objective on the blueprint, not only the ones you have already practised.
    • NewIt names the domain costing you the most marks rather than the one with the lowest score.
    • NewSixty-one new questions put the terms you are meant to confuse on one option list.
    • FixedA round of fixes across the mock exam, your stats, recovery codes and data export.

  46. Simulations with something real to read

    • NewEighteen new performance-based questions hand you a log, a ruleset or scan output and ask you to read it.
    • ImprovedQuestions are worded the way CompTIA words its own, opening on "Which of the following".

  47. A mock exam that sits like the real one

    • ImprovedEvery form holds its difficulty steady, so a swing in your score is you rather than the draw.
    • ImprovedMultiple-response questions went from four a form to twelve, and heavier objectives now draw more questions.
    • NewAny mock exam can be exported with your answers, the key and the explanations, as text, Markdown, CSV or JSON.

  48. A hundred fixes across the study loop

    • FixedA pass that could not reach your account is kept on your device and sent again the next time the app loads.
    • FixedMock exams build from questions you have not worked yet, and cancelling one keeps the ones you answered.
    • FixedA shared browser no longer shows you the last person’s mastery, review queue, streak or dashboard.
    • ImprovedAround a hundred smaller fixes across quizzes, review, practice, the glossary and accessibility.

  49. Seventeen fixes, and fewer dead ends

    • FixedA mock exam landing exactly on 80 percent threw the whole sitting away rather than saving it.
    • FixedGrading a review card could report itself saved without saving, if the card came from another device.
    • FixedReset your password with two-factor on and the app now stays locked until you finish the second step.
    • ImprovedFinishing the last objective in a domain carries you into the next one instead of back to the dashboard.

  50. The mock exam is delivered the way the real one is

    • ImprovedTest-center mode is on by default, and the clock hides during a performance-based question exactly as CompTIA says.
    • ImprovedA part-finished performance-based question now earns credit for the pieces you got right.
    • FixedAn exam that runs out of time is graded rather than thrown away.
    • ImprovedA lot less waiting: lessons reopen where you stopped, the dashboard paints at once, and practice remembers your mix.

  51. A review count you can trust

    • FixedThe review badge could promise work the review page had nothing to show for.
    • FixedSwitching browser tabs mid-review no longer grades the card you were looking at.
    • FixedIf we cannot check your plan for a moment you get a "try again" rather than a paywall.

  52. Reviews arrive once a day

    • FixedA day of reviews used to trickle in by the clock all evening. They now arrive together, once.
    • FixedTapping Again on a card brings it back before the session ends instead of pushing it to tomorrow.
    • NewYour weakest domain now names the weakest objective inside it, so there is something to go and open.

  53. Study time and streaks count what you did

    • FixedTime on a question is measured from when it appears, not from your first tap, so reading it counts.
    • FixedA mock exam counted its questions but none of its time, so a day on a full sitting read as no study at all.
    • Improved"Exam ready" has to be earned: your weakest domain pulls the number down, and an old mock no longer counts.
    • NewThe ports drill remembers you, brings new ports in a dozen a day, and waits for you to confirm an answer.

  54. Select all that apply stops putting answers first

    • FixedBox grids were drawn in the order the question was written, which put the correct boxes at the top.
    • ImprovedInteractive questions redraw their layout when you come back to one, rather than holding a single arrangement.

  55. A flashcards screen that is a launch pad

    • ImprovedThe card waiting for you is the biggest thing on the screen, and every category is a chip you can read at a glance.
    • ImprovedThe videos page leads with the free Domain 1 course, and the case studies moved to their own page.
