We ship small improvements often. This page lists the changes worth calling out, newest first: new features, refinements, and fixes.
You can finally hear the answer sounds
- FixedThe sound for a missed answer was pitched too low for laptop and phone speakers to reproduce, so most people never heard it even with answer sounds turned on. It now plays in the same register as the correct chime: still softer and warmer, so a miss never feels like a buzzer, but actually audible.
- ImprovedBoth answer sounds start a little further ahead of the audio clock, so the first instant of the sound no longer gets clipped when your device has just woken up its speakers or is playing through Bluetooth.
Look back at questions you already answered
- NewQuizzes and practice sets now let you go back. A “Review previous” link next to the question takes you to the one before it, with your answer, the correct answer, and the explanation exactly as you saw them, and arrows walk you through everything you have answered so far.
- NewA “Go through the questions again” link on the result screen walks the whole set once it is graded. If you have explanations set to come at the end, this is where you finally read them, one question at a time.
- ImprovedLooking back is read-only. Your answers are locked, nothing you do there moves your score, and if you have explanations set to come at the end, a look back shows what you picked without giving away the answers to questions you have not reached yet.
A daily goal that knows your week
- ImprovedThe auto daily goal now plans against your actual week instead of an average one. It learns which days you show up and how big those sessions usually are, then asks more on your strong days and less on your quiet ones, so the number fits the day in front of you.
- ImprovedReviews are counted as time, not ignored. A day with a pile of spaced reviews waiting gets a lighter question target, and those questions move to a clearer day rather than vanishing from the plan.
- ImprovedThe goal stops moving under you. Today’s target is fixed once you see it, and it eases toward a new number across days instead of jumping, unless something real changes, like setting your exam date. It also carries a margin sized to how much it knows about you, so a plan built on one week of history aims to finish early rather than exactly on time.
- ImprovedObjectives you mastered months ago and have not touched since now count as work again, and a nearly-passed objective is costed for the harder last stretch rather than the easy first one, so the plan reflects what is actually left to do.
Fresher practice sets, honest stats
- FixedPractice sets stopped repeating themselves. One ordering path served the same questions in the same order every session; every practice order now draws fresh randomness each set while still leaning toward the material that teaches you the most.
- FixedDays of custom practice or a mock exam now count toward your streak, the same as quizzes, reviews, and flashcards. Mock exams also book their time and per-question results, so missed mock questions show up in the redo drill and the weak-spot list.
- ImprovedThe stats panel tells the whole truth: the all-time line separates total answers from unique questions seen, and the daily-goal tile measures against the same target the dashboard plans with, auto goal included.
Answer sounds you can rely on
- FixedThe correct-answer chime and the missed-answer tone no longer skip at random. Waking audio output, like Bluetooth headphones coming back from power save, now gets a few seconds instead of one before the cue is dropped, and a stalled audio pipeline is detected and rebuilt on the spot. A cue that could not start in time stays quiet instead of playing over the next question.
The free side got a lot bigger
- NewThe free question pool grew to 250: every domain practice page now has 40 questions instead of 10, and the sample page doubled to 20. Every question still shows its correct answer and a plain-English explanation, no account needed.
- NewDrill mode landed on the reference sheets. The ports, attacks, cryptography, and risk-management cheat sheets and the acronyms glossary each got a ten-question drill with instant feedback, so you can test the sheet instead of just rereading it.
- NewA free performance-based question lives on the PBQ page now: a firewall configuration task graded field by field with partial credit, the way the real exam scores them.
- NewEverything free now has one home at /free, linked from the top navigation: the readiness check, all 250 questions, the drills, the PBQ, the PDF cheat sheets, and every guide.
Deeper study stats, and a bigger Spanish question bank
- ImprovedYour study stats in Settings now digs further into how your practice is landing. A weak-spots list names the objectives where your recorded answers score lowest, so you know exactly what to drill next; an accuracy-trend tile compares the current window against the same stretch before it; and flashcard work gets its own tile alongside questions and reviews. Everything is still computed from records that never leave your device.
- ImprovedThe Spanish question bank grew by 140 translated questions, five more for every objective across all five domains, so sets in Spanish mode now draw from a pool half again as large.
Reopen past mock exams, and a test-center mode
- NewPast mock exam attempts are now clickable. Open one from the exam page and you get the full score report back: the domain breakdown, every question you missed with its explanation, and the "where to focus" study list built from what you got wrong, with jumps straight into the right lesson or drill.
- NewThe mock exam can now present itself the way the real testing station does. Turn on test-center mode on the exam brief and the question navigator and live progress readouts stay hidden while the clock runs; after the last question you land on an item-review screen that lists incomplete and flagged items, with jump-backs to each, before you end the exam. Leave it off and the exam looks exactly as before.
The auto daily goal now plans like a tutor
- FixedMore of your study state now follows your account between devices: your exam date (so the countdown, forecast, and daily goal agree everywhere), your readiness trend history (the chart shows the same line on every device), your diagnostic result (no more being told to take a diagnostic you already took), and the missed questions your daily goal budgets re-drills for.
- FixedThe daily question goal now counts across your devices. Questions answered on your laptop show up in the goal ring on your phone (and the other way around) the next time the dashboard loads, and the goal settings themselves follow your account. Work done offline still counts from the device that did it.
- ImprovedThe readiness trend is a real chart now: the axis zooms to your actual scores so movement reads as movement, the 85 pass line shows as a quiet reference once you are near it, your current score is labeled at the end of the line, and hovering (or focusing the chart and using the arrow keys) shows the exact readiness you had on any day.
- ImprovedThe automatic daily question goal now plans backward from your exam date using your own history: how many questions it actually takes you to master an objective, how close each remaining objective already is, your recent accuracy, the days you really study, missed questions waiting for a re-drill, and the mock exams still worth a timed run. It eases off when a big review pile is due, fits your daily study minutes at your measured pace, and goes light on exam eve. The editor on the card explains exactly where the number came from.
A daily question goal on your dashboard
- NewThe dashboard now tracks a daily question goal next to your next best action: how many practice questions you have answered today against a daily target. By default the target sizes itself from your exam date and what you still have to master; switch it to a fixed number of your own from the card or in Settings.
Report bugs from the contact page, extension fine print
- NewThe contact page now has a report form: describe a bug, glitch, wrong answer, or feature idea and it goes straight to our inbox, no email client needed. Leave your email if you want a reply.
- NewEach browser extension’s privacy policy and terms of use now live on the extensions page, alongside links to its source code on GitHub. Gmail One-Click Cleaner also got its Firefox Add-ons install link.
Share your score, give a friend 20% off
- NewMock exam results now come with a share card: a clean image of your scaled score and the pass line that you can post, download, or send anywhere, with your invite link in the caption.
- NewEvery member now has a personal invite link, in Settings under Invite. Anyone who joins through it gets 20% off any plan at checkout, and during a sale the discount stacks on top of the sale price.
- NewThe results page now links straight to the SecPlus Mastery Discord, where a daily practice question runs and you can compare scores with other people prepping for the same exam.
Audits and assessments: current exam wording
- ImprovedThe audits and assessments material now leads with the current exam wording for penetration test scope: known, partially known, and unknown environment. The older white-, gray-, and black-box names stay only in parentheses. The questions, the lesson, and the scenario all read the same way now.
Sharper flashcards and one practice menu
- ImprovedFlashcards can now drill one category at a time, with a per-category progress list on the setup screen, and you can flip the direction: definition first makes you recall the acronym from its meaning, the harder way around.
- ImprovedThe Practice page now lays out every way to practice in one place: the set builder and drills as before, plus one-tap tiles for the mock exam, the review queue, flashcards, and scenarios.
Study in Spanish
- NewYou can now switch the app to Spanish: open Settings, choose Language, and pick Español. The study interface (navigation, dashboard, quizzes, practice, review, and settings) switches over, and your choice is saved on your device.
- NewA hand-translated set of practice questions is available in Spanish, covering every exam objective. The Spanish bank is smaller than the English one for now (about ten questions per objective), so quizzes and practice sets draw from fewer questions, and a note in the app reminds you of this while you study in Spanish. Lessons and mock exams stay in English for now.
Review gets exam-aware scheduling and honest retention numbers
- NewSet your exam date and the review scheduler now works around it: no card is ever scheduled past exam day, and in the final two weeks the intervals tighten so your recall peaks when it counts. The interval preview on each grade button reflects the cap, so what you see is what you get.
- NewEach review card now shows the predicted chance you still remember it, straight from the same memory model that decides what you review next. You can see at a glance why a card came up.
- ImprovedThe retention number on the review meter is now the real forgetting-curve prediction instead of a rough difficulty average. It decays as cards sit unreviewed and climbs as you grade them, and it now covers every card you track, so it matches the readiness math on your dashboard.
- ImprovedThe 7-day forecast now separates overdue backlog from cards freshly due today, so a pile-up reads as a pile-up instead of a normal day.
- FixedThe adaptive scheduler's memory of each card (how stable and how difficult it is) was being saved but not loaded back, so a page refresh made it treat well-learned cards like brand-new ones. Your review history now carries across reloads and devices the way it always should have.
Risk management and third-party risk content audited against the exam objectives
- ImprovedEvery quiz question, learn deck, scenario, and reading for risk management (5.2) and third-party risk (5.3) was audited line by line against the official SY0-701 objectives. Questions that test useful real-world ideas beyond the published objectives (like SIG questionnaires, exit planning, and breach-notification clauses) are now clearly labeled as bonus material, and off-list terms were swapped out of answer choices so nothing steers your studying toward vocabulary the exam does not use.
- NewThe Risk Register scenario gained two new decisions covering recovery targets (RTO, RPO, MTTR, MTBF) and assessment cadence (ad hoc, recurring, one-time, continuous), and The Vendor With the Keys scenario now walks through vendor due diligence and a conflict-of-interest call, so both stories cover their full exam objective.
- ImprovedThe 5.2 and 5.3 readings now tell you exactly which terms are on the official objective list and which are helpful context beyond it, so you always know what is fair game on exam day.
Free resources refreshed for mid-2026
- ImprovedEvery free study page got a fact check against current sources. Voucher prices reflect the May 2026 CompTIA increase ($439 for Security+), salary figures use the new BLS May 2025 data, and the job-market numbers come from mid-2026 CyberSeek data.
- NewThe attacks cheat sheet gained wireless attacks, buffer overflow, CSRF, zero-day, and more; the cryptography sheet added obfuscation, key storage hardware, and certificate types; the ports sheet now covers IPsec (UDP 500 and 4500). The downloadable PDFs match the pages again.
- ImprovedThe exam guide now links the entire free library, and the practice pages cross-link related resources so the next step is always one click away.
Smoother motion everywhere
- ImprovedThe whole site moves better. Loading screens now shimmer instead of sitting flat, the page spinner has a lighter look and no longer flashes on fast loads, and dialogs, toasts, and the mobile menu ease out when dismissed instead of vanishing. FAQ answers glide open on browsers that support it.
- ImprovedEnhanced animations, the springier motion layer from Settings, is now on for everyone by default: pages glide in as you navigate, buttons press with a satisfying push, and cards lift under your cursor. You can switch back to the calmer base motion any time in Settings, and every animation still respects your system reduced-motion preference.
The mock exam now runs like the real one
- ImprovedMock exams now mirror the real SY0-701 sitting. Performance-based questions open the exam as their own block, the way CompTIA serves them, and the multiple-choice section mixes all five domains together instead of marching through them in blueprint order. Difficulty tags are hidden while the clock runs, since the real exam never shows them.
- ImprovedThe pass verdict now sits exactly at 750 on the 100 to 900 scale, matching the score report gauge. And before you submit, the confirm dialog lists every unanswered and flagged question with a one-tap jump back, like the end-of-exam review screen at the testing center.
Real-world scenarios, out of beta
- NewReal-world scenarios are out of beta and now cover all five domains, not just Domain 1. Every objective on the exam has a branching story: triaging a 900-page vulnerability scan, an account that outlived its contractor, a ransom note with no plan on paper, a vendor audit six weeks away. Pick a domain, pick a story, and decide what you would actually do, with honest feedback on each call and a debrief that ties it back to the exam. Domain 1 stays free for everyone; Domains 2 through 5 come with a 90-Day Pass or Lifetime, alongside the lessons, quizzes, labs, and mock exams.
Answer questions with your keyboard
- NewOn quiz, practice, and mock exam questions you can now press A, B, C, or D to pick the matching answer choice (plus E or F when a question has more). On select-all-that-apply questions the key toggles the choice on and off. Clicking still works exactly as before.
- NewEnter now presses the main button for you: it submits your selected answer, then moves to the next question from the feedback. In the mock exam it steps to the next question, the same as the Next button. Combined with the letter keys, a whole quiz runs without touching the mouse.
- ImprovedThe correct-answer chime is now a brighter three-note rise, and a missed answer plays its own soft low tone so you can tell how you did without looking. Both respect the answer sounds switch in Settings, which now covers the pair.
- FixedAnswer sounds no longer stop working partway through a session on phones. Backgrounding the tab, locking the screen, or a call taking over the speaker used to silence them until you reloaded the page; they now pick back up on the next answer.
Lessons now read one section at a time
- NewLesson readings are split into their sections: one section per screen with Back and Next buttons and a section counter, so a long objective is no longer one giant scroll. Practice checks, diagrams, and labs work inside their section exactly as before, and a link to a specific heading still lands you on the right section.
- NewOn phones and tablets, a section picker now sits under the reading progress bar. Tap it to see every section in the lesson and jump straight to the one you want. On wide screens the On this page sidebar does the same job and keeps highlighting where you are.
Pick any practice set length
- NewThe practice builder now takes any number of questions, not just 5, 10, 20, or All. Type the exact count you want in the new Custom box next to the presets and your set is built to that length. It applies to weak-area drills too, and a set in progress remembers your custom length if you leave and come back.
Get your readiness check results by email
- NewFinish the free readiness check and you can now have your results emailed to you: your score, your estimated readiness, your accuracy in each domain, where to start, and a study tip for your weakest area, followed by a short Security+ study email series you can leave with one click. If you are not signed in, entering an email is also what unlocks the full breakdown on screen; your basic score always shows either way, and signed-in learners see everything automatically, exactly as before.
Your streak can no longer reset itself
- FixedStudy streaks are now recorded as the actual calendar days you studied, saved on your device and in your account, and merged whenever you sign in. Before, opening the site on a second device (or a badly timed slow connection) could overwrite a real multi-day run and show a streak of 1. A study day can now only ever be added to your history, never erased, so your streak survives switching devices, clearing your browser, and studying offline. Past study days were also restored from your quiz history, so streaks that were undercounted are accurate again, and the 30-day activity strip on the dashboard now remembers every day you studied instead of only the most recent one per topic.
A clearer daily streak card
- ImprovedThe dashboard streak card got a visual refresh. A flame lights up amber while your streak is alive, and a status pill tells you at a glance whether today is already banked or still needs a study session. Today's square on the 30-day activity strip gently pulses until you study, the card counts how many of the last 30 days you showed up, and while a run is going it shows how many more days until you beat your personal best.
Study preferences, reorganized
- ImprovedThe Study preferences card in Settings is now grouped by what each control actually affects: your daily goals, how a session behaves while you are in it, and how the Smart practice order rotates questions between days. Every preference reads as one row with its explanation on the left and its control on the right, on/off preferences use a proper toggle switch, and the number fields sit beside their units, so the section is much easier to scan.
A quicker Practice builder
- ImprovedBuilding a custom practice set takes fewer, easier taps. Objective rows are now full-width touch targets, so you tap anywhere on the row instead of hunting for the checkbox, and rows meet the 44px touch-size guideline. The builder leads with the objectives, with length and difficulty side by side below the list. The start bar now sticks to the bottom of the screen while you scroll the objective list, shows a live count of how many questions your selection can draw from, and sits above the tab bar on phones. The PBQ drill card also slimmed down so the builder is closer to the top of the page.
Domain 4.8 incident response: full content audit
- ImprovedThe Domain 4.8 accuracy pass now extends beyond the question bank to every other study surface. The lesson drops its beyond-scope Communication and Metrics sections in favor of an Objective Boundaries note pointing to where those topics actually live (regulator notification in 5.4, mean time to detect in 4.4, mean time to repair in 5.2, red and purple teaming in 5.5), and its exercise list now sticks to the two testing types the objective names: tabletop and simulation. In Learn mode, the response-metrics card was replaced with a tabletop-versus-simulation card, covering the objective's testing bullet. The ransomware scenario's external-communication decision is now a legal-hold decision, which is in scope for 4.8 and was previously untested there. Two question stems were also corrected: one implied a forensic source drive gets wiped after imaging, and one mislabeled threat hunting as a lifecycle phase rather than an activity.
Memorization guard: prove you know it, not that you remember it
- NewA new study preference makes quizzes and practice sets much harder to pass by recognizing questions instead of knowing the material. With Memorization guard on, the choices stay hidden until you ask for them (so you recall an answer before you can recognize one), every answer takes a quick how-sure rating, and a correct answer you marked as a guess, or one that landed faster than the question can physically be read, comes back later in the same session with the choices reshuffled. Clear the recheck and your point stands; miss it and the point is withdrawn, so your score only counts answers you could back up. Missed questions also return in-session for a re-drill. Turn it on in Settings under Study preferences; it syncs across your devices, and mock exams are never changed so they stay true to real exam conditions.
Review lesson after a missed quiz goes to the right lesson
- FixedAfter a quiz score below the mastery gate, the "Review lesson" button now takes you back to the lesson for the objective you just attempted. It used to point at the next objective's lesson, which is still locked until you pass, so it dead-ended on a lock screen.
The question accuracy sweep now covers every objective
- FixedFinished the objective-by-objective question accuracy sweep. The remaining objectives (2.2, 2.3, 2.5, 3.1, 3.3, 4.1, 4.4, 4.6, 4.9, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.5, and 5.6) got the same review as the ones detailed below: every question was checked against the official SY0-701 objective bullets, questions that had drifted outside their objective were rewritten to test in-scope material, and explanations were updated to match. Every question bank in the course has now been audited against the published exam objectives.
Domain 5.4 compliance question accuracy pass
- FixedTightened the Domain 5.4 security compliance questions to the exam objective. Several items that tested terms outside the published 5.4 bullets (such as tokenization, anonymization and pseudonymization, the right of access, the data protection officer, certification versus attestation, special categories of personal data, and gap analysis) are now clearly marked as beyond exam scope. The privacy-roles matching exercise also drops those out-of-scope techniques and now sticks to in-scope roles: data subject, controller, processor, data owner, and the right to be forgotten.
Domain 4.8 incident response question accuracy pass
- ImprovedTightened the Domain 4.8 incident response questions to the exam objective. Several items that tested topics outside the published 4.8 bullets (response-time metrics, breach-notification and communication rules, and exercise types beyond tabletop and simulation) now test in-scope material instead: the incident response process, training, root cause analysis, threat hunting, and digital forensics (acquisition, preservation, chain of custody, reporting, legal hold, and e-discovery). Every answer stays on the objective.
Domain 4.2 asset-management question accuracy pass
- FixedTightened several Domain 4.2 asset-management questions that tested terms outside the objective (such as software bill of materials and data minimization). Those items now cover in-scope asset-management topics like software inventory, retention scheduling, and certificates of destruction, so every question stays on the exam objective.
Domain 4.3 vulnerability-management question accuracy pass
- FixedTidied up a couple of Domain 4.3 vulnerability-management questions so they stay on the exam objective. One that answered with "software composition analysis" now uses package monitoring, the term the objective actually lists for spotting vulnerable dependencies. A dynamic application security testing (DAST) question is also no longer marked as beyond exam scope, since that technique is on the objective.
Domain 3.2 infrastructure question accuracy pass
- FixedRetuned several Domain 3.2 questions that tested topics from other objectives, such as DNS security, address translation, and content delivery networks. Those items now cover in-scope enterprise infrastructure concepts (firewall types, secure tunnels, port security, device placement, and appliance selection), so every question stays on the exam objective.
Domain 2.1 threat-actor question accuracy pass
- FixedCleaned up several Domain 2.1 threat-actor questions that leaned on the "competitor" category, which is not one of the SY0-701 threat actor types. Those items now classify the same scenarios using in-scope actors (insider threat, nation-state, organized crime) and motivations, so every answer stays on the exam objective.
Domain 1 question accuracy pass
- FixedReworked a Domain 1 security-controls question that framed the scenario as a risk-treatment choice. It now asks for the control type it always meant to test, with answer choices drawn from the six control types (deterrent, preventive, detective, and so on) so it stays on the exam objective.
Hands-on labs for every Domain 2 and 3 objective
- NewSeven new interactive labs finish out Domains 2 and 3. Profile threat actors from breach evidence, label vulnerabilities from pentest findings, triage a night of attack indicators, harden a fresh server, name architecture models, place network defenses and set their failure modes, and design a disaster recovery plan. Each lab sits at the end of its objective lesson, ungraded and replayable.
Hands-on labs for every Domain 4 objective
- NewEvery Security Operations objective now ends its lesson with a hands-on lab. Build a firewall rule from a change ticket, triage a vulnerability scan report, sort sign-in factors, spot an account takeover in an authentication log, and more. Labs are ungraded and replayable, with hints when you want a nudge.
Hands-on labs across Domains 1 and 5
- NewEight new interactive labs: every Domain 1 and Domain 5 objective now has one. Sort fundamentals like CIA and AAA, run a change ticket past the approval board, inspect a bad certificate, configure a password policy to its written standard, pick the right vendor agreement, assign privacy roles, scope audits and pen tests, and triage anomalous user behavior. All ungraded and replayable from each objective page.
Smoother sidebar scrolling
- FixedScrolling the domain list in the sidebar with a mouse or trackpad could stop responding once you reached the bottom of the list. Scrolling now continues into the page normally instead of going dead.
Quiz and practice answers now count toward your reviews
- FixedAnswering a question in a quiz or practice set that was also waiting in your Review queue didn't used to touch its schedule, so a question you kept missing in practice would still wait out its full review interval. Missing one now brings it back within 10 minutes; answering it well pushes its next review out, the same as grading it directly in Review.
A smarter Review tab
- ImprovedA card you get wrong now comes back in 10 minutes, in the same session, instead of disappearing until tomorrow.
- ImprovedGrading is more precise: Hard and Easy adjust your next interval by a smaller, steadier amount, and correctly recalling a card you were late to review now credits some of that extra time instead of resetting the clock.
- NewGrade buttons now show what each rating schedules (like 10m or 3d), Undo (or the U key) takes back your last grade, and the Review page adds a 7-day forecast and an overdue count.
- ImprovedReview sessions cap at 20 cards so a big backlog doesn't feel endless; finishing a batch with more still due lets you keep going right away.
Practice remembers what you missed
- NewPractice sets now factor in your history: questions you've gotten right rest for a few days before reappearing, and ones you missed come back sooner. A new "Redo missed questions" drill on the Practice page reruns exactly what you got wrong.
- NewYour stats view (in Settings) now shows 7/30/90-day windows, your streak, time spent, and a daily question goal you can set.
Forecasting your exam-day readiness
- NewThe dashboard's readiness card now estimates whether you're on pace to be ready by your exam date, not just where your score sits today. If you're behind, it tells you the weekly pace you'd need to catch up. Add your exam date right from the card if you haven't set one yet.
Fresher visuals for the dashboard, sidebar, and Learn mode
- ImprovedThe readiness gauge on the dashboard got a clearer instrument-style redesign, with banded bars that make your weakest area easier to spot at a glance.
- ImprovedSidebar domain rows now show progress with a small dial and a color-coded tile instead of a thin line, so mastered, in-progress, and locked domains are easier to tell apart.
- ImprovedLearn mode's hub and quiz runner have a clearer visual state for aced and locked decks.
Jump straight to any objective from the mobile Content sheet
- NewThe mobile Content sheet used to open every domain to its first objective. Now each domain expands to show all of its objectives, so you can open the exact one you want.
- ImprovedThe menu now groups by what you're doing: Content (Learn mode, Videos, Scenarios) for material to study, and Practice (Practice, Review, Flashcards, Mock Exam) for drills.
A new Content tab on mobile
- NewAdded a sixth tab, Content, to the bottom bar on mobile, pulling videos, domain reading material, and Learn mode into one place instead of digging through the menu.
Steadier review, even on a slow connection
- FixedFixed a bug where, if the save to our servers was briefly interrupted, a card you just reviewed could keep showing as due and your answer could fail to log. Grading a card now updates your schedule and history on your device immediately, then syncs right after.
- FixedThe readiness gauge's info popover no longer runs off the edge of the screen on mobile.
Your settings and theme now follow you across devices
- NewYour study preferences and color theme now sync to your account, so they follow you to any device you sign in on instead of staying stuck on the one where you set them. (If you use the System theme, each device still matches its own OS setting, as before.)

Your weaker and exam-heavy areas still tend to come up more, but the selection and order now vary from one session to the next so you are not drilling the same opening sequence on repeat.

A faster, simpler way to start
- ImprovedThe home page is cleaner and quicker to act on. You can create your free account right at the top now: continue with Google in one tap, or type your email and go straight into signing up, without scrolling past a wall of text first. Domain 1 is still free with no card.
Your progress is saved when you switch away, and answers really shuffle
- FixedQuiz and review choices now move to a new spot each time you redo a question, instead of sitting in the same place every attempt. Before, the options were shuffled once and then stayed put, so it was easy to remember "the answer is the third one" without knowing why. Now a fresh practice run, a "start over", or a new review session lays the choices out differently, so you are tested on what you know, not where it sat last time.
- FixedLeaving an activity in the middle no longer loses your place. If you are partway through a practice set, the diagnostic, or a flashcard drill and you tap away (to Settings, say), coming back picks up exactly where you left off. This matters most when you add the app to your home screen and there is no back button. Mock exams and objective quizzes already worked this way.
A drag-to-order question that actually tests you
- FixedFixed a practice question on ordering the Purdue model zones that gave the answer away through its labels. You now have to know how the zones actually stack, from the physical process up to enterprise IT.
A clearer sidebar that stays useful when collapsed
- ImprovedThe menu on the left now shows a small icon next to every link, so Practice, Review, Mock Exam and the rest are easier to spot at a glance. And when you collapse the sidebar to make more room, it no longer goes blank: it shrinks to a tidy strip of icons you can still tap to jump anywhere, with the name showing when you hover. Your reviews-due count still rides along on the Review icon.
Playful new animations you can switch on
- ImprovedTurn on Enhanced animations (Settings, under Appearance) to bring the app to life with springy, playful motion: buttons press down like real keys, the toggle and the selected tab pop with a little bounce, cards spring back when you tap them, and pages glide in. It is off by default, saved on your device, and always respects the reduce-motion setting on your phone.
Add SecPlus Mastery to your home screen
- NewOn your phone you can now add SecPlus Mastery to your home screen and open it like an app. In your browser, tap the share button and choose Add to Home Screen. You get an icon that opens straight into the app, full screen with no address bar in the way, and a branded launch screen instead of a blank one. The app still opens when you are offline, with a simple page that lets you know to reconnect when you need to load lessons and quizzes. Your login and progress stay exactly the same.
- ImprovedTo make that easier to find on phones, the app now shows a small prompt to add it to your home screen: a one-tap Install button on Android, and the quick steps on iPhone. It only appears on mobile, never when the app is already installed, and you can dismiss it any time.
- FixedOn iPhones, the bottom buttons (Home, Practice, Review, Exam, More) now sit clear of the home bar at the very bottom of the screen, so they are no longer cramped against it in the installed app.
Accessibility pass across the site
- ImprovedA site-wide accessibility sweep, with the biggest gains for people who use a keyboard or a screen reader. Wide tables and code blocks can now be scrolled with the keyboard, the account menu moves with the arrow keys, and links that open in a new tab say so to screen readers. We also checked every page in the High Contrast theme and on small screens. Nothing changed about how the app looks or works for everyone else.
A fresh look for the emails we send you
- ImprovedThe emails we send (your sign-up confirmation code, your password-reset code, and the notices when we update our Terms or Privacy Policy) have a clean, redesigned look that matches the site. The code is now big and easy to read, and everything looks right on your phone and in dark mode.
Download a copy of your data
- NewYou can now download everything tied to your account from Settings, Your data: your profile, study progress, quiz and mock-exam history, review schedule, billing records, and anything you have posted, saved straight to your device as a single file. It sits right above Delete account, so you can keep a copy before you remove anything. The file never includes your password or two-factor secrets.
Clearer guidance on the mock exam
- FixedThe dashboard used to make the full mock exam look locked until you had covered 60% of the blueprint. Your progress never actually gated it, so the card now treats 60% as a recommendation rather than a lock: a full 90-question mock is most useful once you have covered about 60% of the material, but you can start one sooner if you want.
Fairer hands-on questions
- FixedThe hands-on questions (sorting items into categories, matching, putting steps in order, and the configure dropdowns) now start in a shuffled, steady order instead of a predictable one, so they test what you actually know rather than position. Scoring is unaffected.

A bigger question bank and a smarter review queue
- NewWe added 370 new practice questions across all 31 exam objectives, every one written and then independently fact-checked for a single correct answer and accurate explanations. That brings the bank to over 1,400 exam-style questions, so you will see fresh scenarios in quizzes, practice sets, and mock exams instead of repeats.
- ImprovedSpaced review now studies smarter. Instead of going strictly by the calendar date a card came due, it puts the cards you are most likely to have forgotten first, so each session spends your time where a review actually rescues a memory. It also mixes objectives together within a session rather than grouping them, which research shows helps the material stick. You can switch back to the simple order anytime under Settings, Study.
A polish pass: clearer in dark mode, friendlier on keyboard and mobile
- FixedSome text was hard to read in dark mode. On the free CompTIA A+ practice pages, the answer explanations and the highlighted correct answer are now clearly legible in every theme, and a few accent labels (like the risk-management formulas) that were showing as plain gray now use your theme’s accent color.
- ImprovedReduced-motion is now fully respected on the dashboard: the gentle “lift” on the main action buttons no longer moves if your system is set to reduce motion.
- ImprovedThe mobile menu is now fully keyboard- and screen-reader-friendly. Opening it moves your focus into the menu and keeps it there until you close it, and the button now tells assistive tech whether the menu is open.
- ImprovedThe “Resend code” link, when confirming your email or resetting your password, now shows a brief “Sending…” and can’t be tapped repeatedly, so you won’t fire off duplicate emails by accident.
- ImprovedSmall consistency touches across pages: larger, easier-to-tap breadcrumb links, matching title sizes on the Privacy and Terms pages, the free plan now reads as a proper heading alongside the paid plans, and the in-lesson knowledge checks tell screen readers which option you picked and whether it was right.
Listen to your study material, and a keyboard-friendly review
- NewYou can now have your study material read aloud. A Listen button sits on quiz questions and their explanations, flashcards, spaced-review cards, the mock exam, the free practice sets, Learn mode, and glossary terms, so you can study by ear or read along. Pick your voice and speed once in Settings, under Read aloud, and it is used everywhere, including the existing lesson narration. It runs on your device’s built-in text-to-speech, so the available voices depend on your device and browser, and no audio is ever sent to a server.
- ImprovedSpaced review is now fully keyboard- and screen-reader-friendly. Press Space or Enter to reveal the answer and 1 through 4 to grade how well you recalled it, all without reaching for the mouse, and a screen reader now announces each card and keeps your focus in the right place as you go.
- FixedYour quiz progress no longer disappears when you switch away and come back. Leaving mid-quiz and returning used to bounce you back to the first question and, on a paid quiz, flash the wrong screen for a moment before settling. It now keeps your current question and score, and resumes cleanly even if your browser reloaded the page (common on phones after a tab sits in the background).
- FixedFixed a layout glitch when zooming in: the left menu could overflow and overlap the footer. When the menu is taller than the screen it now scrolls on its own instead of spilling over the page.
Jump to any domain, a tidier Settings, and accuracy fixes
- NewOpen access for members: if your plan unlocks every domain, you can now switch any domain on in Settings to jump straight to the objectives you still need, instead of working through them in the set order. It only changes what you can open. It never marks anything complete, and your mastery and scores still come only from quizzes.
- NewYou can now cancel a mock exam in progress and leave without it counting against you, instead of being locked in until you submit.
- NewAn optional Enhanced animations setting adds a little more movement around the app for those who want it. It stays off by default and always respects your system’s reduced-motion preference.
- ImprovedSettings is reorganized into clearer, labeled sections (Account, Security, Study, Notifications, and Appearance) with a jump menu and scroll tracking, so finding a setting is quicker.
- ImprovedA round of accessibility improvements across the app: loading buttons, error and status messages, lesson and cheat-sheet tables, and links that open in a new tab are all clearer to screen readers.
- FixedYour study day now follows your device’s local midnight, so your streak, daily goal, and study heatmap line up with your real days instead of shifting by a few hours around midnight.
- FixedThe real-world scenarios and the diagnostic now shuffle their answer choices too, so the correct answer is no longer more likely to sit in the same spot. Quizzes already did this.
Themes save reliably, and steadier study settings
- FixedChoosing a color theme other than plain Light or Dark, including the default Midnight, could quietly block the rest of your settings from saving, with a "the server did not accept it" message. Your theme, name, study goal, and reminders now all save reliably.
- FixedThe "questions per quiz" and "daily study goal" boxes can no longer be left empty or set to zero. A zero in the quiz box used to load the entire question bank into one session; both fields now stay within their stated range.

Your side menu now shows where you stand
- ImprovedThe side menu now orients you at a glance. It shows your overall mastery (how many of the 31 objectives you have locked in), a slim progress gauge on each domain, and a count of reviews due right on the Review link. It also opens and highlights the domain you are currently studying, so you land on your place in the course. On desktop it remembers whether you had it collapsed.
- ImprovedThe Domains list is far easier to use on a phone. Domain names and objective titles now wrap and show in full instead of being cut off mid-word, the rows are taller and easier to tap accurately, and opening a domain slides its objectives in smoothly. The desktop menu keeps its compact look, and nothing changes about how progress is tracked.
A darker default, a tidier practice setup, and a quick restart
- ImprovedMidnight, a deep low-glare dark theme, is now the default look for new visitors. You can switch to any other theme at any time in Settings.
- ImprovedBuilding your own practice set is cleaner. The objectives now tuck into a dropdown for each domain, each with a one-tap option to grab the whole domain, instead of a wall of 31 checkboxes laid out at once.
- NewYou can now start a quiz over from the first question without finishing it or leaving the page. A quick "Start over? Yes / No" confirm means a stray tap can never wipe an attempt.
- FixedSigning in with Google now always lets you choose which account to use, instead of silently reusing whichever one you were last signed into.
Learn by watching: video lessons
- NewA new way to study: video lessons that teach an objective on screen, alongside reading and Learn mode. Domain 1's four videos are free for everyone on a new Videos page, and members get videos across Domains 2 through 5, taught objective by objective. Open one from the "Watch this objective" banner on any lesson that has it, or pick "Watch video" as your next step from the dashboard.
- NewA free "More videos" section collects bonus clips, like study tips, tool walkthroughs, and exam-day advice, outside the structured course. Free for everyone, no account needed.
- ImprovedA smoother path to buying: the plan you pick now follows you through sign-up and takes you straight to checkout, so your choice is never lost. A locked lesson or quiz now explains which plan it is part of with a link to the plans, instead of quietly bouncing you to the pricing page.
Learn mode and lesson videos now count toward your progress
- ImprovedStudying an objective now shows up where it should. Reading a lesson to the end, finishing a Learn mode deck, or watching a lesson video marks that objective as studied, so your dashboard stops telling you to start what you already worked through. The next step it points you to is the quiz, because passing the quiz is what locks the objective in and starts spaced review. A short prompt now sits under each lesson video to take that quiz once you are done watching.
A new page on how our questions are written and checked
- NewA new free page lays out exactly how every practice question is built and kept accurate: tied to a real SY0-701 objective, given one defensible answer with an explanation on every option, and run through an automated quality check that blocks anything malformed, duplicated, or missing a correct answer before it can go live. It also explains how the hands-on performance-based questions are graded and how to report a mistake. You can read it from the footer under Question quality.
Five new free guides on Security+ pay, jobs, and exam day
- NewFive free guides now answer the questions people ask before they commit to Security+. There is an honest look at what the cert pays by role, the jobs and career paths it leads to, whether it is worth it, how hard the exam is and how long to study, and exactly what to expect on exam day. The figures use real ranges drawn from public salary and government sources and are dated, so you get a straight answer rather than hype. All five are free to read, with no account needed.
A nudge to lock down your account, and a batch of fixes
- NewIf you have not turned on two-factor sign-in, the dashboard now shows a calm prompt explaining why a second factor matters, with a one-tap link to set it up. It is easy to dismiss for good, and it never shows once two-factor is on.
- FixedEditing a setting and leaving the page right away no longer loses the change. Your edit is now saved on your device the moment you make it, rather than only after a short delay.
- FixedYour mock exam now shows one consistent pass-or-not verdict everywhere. A borderline score used to read as a pass in one place and a miss in another; the score report now matches your attempt history and the pass badge.
- FixedThe first spaced-review session you earn by passing a quiz now sticks. Before, those cards could keep reappearing as due every time you reloaded, instead of moving forward on their schedule.
Smoother motion in the moments that matter
- ImprovedThe app now moves a little more gently where it counts. When you submit an answer, the explanation eases into view and the result mark gives a small confirming pop. Finishing a quiz and the outcome of each scenario decision settle in the same calm way, and a fresh question fades in as you move through a set. The motion is deliberately subtle, stays out of the way as you read, and is switched off automatically if you have reduced motion turned on in your system settings.
Answer choices no longer sit in a predictable spot
- FixedThe correct answer used to land in the same position too often, so you could sometimes guess it from its place on the list instead of the material. Each question now shuffles its answer choices, so the right answer is spread across A, B, C, and D. Choices keep a steady order for a given question, so nothing jumps around as you read, and scoring is unaffected.
Review sticks to real recall, and every objective gets new questions
- ImprovedMatching, ordering, and other interactive questions no longer appear in your review queue. They never worked as flip-the-card recall checks, so review now sticks to questions you can actually answer from memory. They still appear in quizzes and mock exams, where you can work them properly.
- NewTo make up for it, every one of the 31 objectives gained 3 brand-new practice questions, 93 in total, written in the same scenario style as the exam. They flow into your quizzes and your review queue the next time you pass that objective.
A smarter "what should I do next?"
- ImprovedThe recommendation at the top of your dashboard now weighs everything you can do on the site, not just lessons and reviews: spaced reviews, your weakest area, the next lesson, real-world scenarios, acronym flashcards, the mock exam, and the diagnostic for brand-new accounts. It always shows the single best next step plus a couple of alternatives, each with an honest reason.
- NewThe dashboard now knows when you have put in a solid day. Once you have logged enough study work and your review queue is clear, it says you have done enough for today, and quietly offers the next best thing in case you want to keep going. Spacing your study out beats cramming, and now the app says so.
Steadier review sessions
- FixedThe review session counter no longer resets after every card. It now reads like it should: 10 of 30, 11 of 30, all the way to the end, instead of dropping back to 0 of whatever was left.
- ImprovedWhen a matching or other interactive question comes up in review, the card now says the board is a preview: work out the answer in your head, then reveal it to check. Before, the board just sat there refusing taps, which felt broken, especially on phones.
Real-world scenarios (beta)
- NewA new way to study: real-world scenarios. Each one drops you into a workplace story (a propped-open server room door, a shared admin password, a midnight emergency change, an expired certificate) and asks what you would actually do. Every choice gets honest consequence feedback, the story branches based on your calls, and a debrief ties it back to the exam. Find them in the sidebar under your domain lessons. Domain 1 is live now and free for everyone while the beta runs; Domains 2 through 5 are being written.
A clearer flashcards deck and a single Partner hub
- ImprovedThe flashcards page now shows your deck at a glance before you start: how many cards there are, how many you have banked, what is left with a session estimate, and a peek at the next card waiting for you.

The cards you have banked are remembered on your device, so a return visit picks up where you left off. Open it from the Flashcards link in the sidebar or the glossary.
A better way to read lessons
- ImprovedLessons now have an "On this page" outline on the right that tracks the section you are reading and lets you jump straight to any part, so the longer lessons are far easier to navigate.
- ImprovedEach lesson now shows an estimated reading time, and the layout is wider and more balanced on desktop so it no longer feels squeezed to one side.
Sign in with Google
- NewYou can now sign in or sign up with Google in one tap, with no password to remember. If you already have an account with the same email, Google connects to it automatically, and any two-factor you set up still applies.
- NewA new Connected accounts section in Settings shows how you sign in and lets you link or unlink your Google account.
Easier access to key pages and a privacy note
- NewA brief, one-time notice now explains the few essential things the site keeps in your browser to sign you in and remember your settings. There are no ads and no cross-site tracking, and the analytics we use set no cookies.

New ways to study

- NewRecall mode on lesson diagrams: tap "Recall mode" to blur the labels, quiz yourself on what each part is, then tap to reveal. It is active recall built into the figures you already study.
