DHE

Diffie-Hellman Ephemeral

A key exchange that generates a fresh key per session for forward secrecy.

Diffie-Hellman Ephemeral runs a fresh Diffie-Hellman key exchange for every session using temporary keys, which provides perfect forward secrecy so that the compromise of a long-term key does not expose past sessions. It is widely used in TLS, often in its elliptic curve form ECDHE for better performance. The ephemeral keys are discarded after the session, which is what separates it from static Diffie-Hellman.
