CERT

Computer Emergency Response Team

A team that responds to and coordinates handling of security incidents.

A CERT is a group responsible for receiving, analyzing, and coordinating the response to security incidents, often serving an entire organization, sector, or nation. It centralizes expertise, communication, and advisory functions so that incidents are handled consistently and lessons are shared. The term overlaps heavily with CIRT and CSIRT, with differences largely organizational rather than technical. National teams also publish vulnerability alerts and guidance, making CERT a recognized source of coordinated threat information.
