The Kerberos component that issues tickets for authentication.
The KDC is the trusted core of Kerberos, comprising an Authentication Service that issues ticket granting tickets and a Ticket Granting Service that issues service tickets. It enables single sign on by letting authenticated users obtain access to many services without resending credentials. Because it is central to trust, a compromised KDC is severe, enabling forged tickets such as golden ticket attacks. Kerberos also relies on synchronized clocks to validate time sensitive tickets and resist replay.
