RACE

The European research programme that gave RIPEMD the first word of its name.

RACE was a European Union research programme, and it appears in the Security+ acronym list only because RIPEMD expands to RACE Integrity Primitives Evaluation Message Digest. Nothing about the programme itself is examinable, and no objective mentions it. Treat it purely as the expansion of the first word of RIPEMD, the European hash family whose RIPEMD-160 variant is the one still seen in practice. If a question reaches this acronym at all, it is asking you to recognise the expansion, not to know the programme.
