CAR
Corrective Action Report
A document recording the steps taken to fix a problem and prevent recurrence.
A CAR documents a discovered problem, its root cause, and the corrective steps taken to resolve it and prevent recurrence. It is a staple of quality and compliance programs and often follows audit findings, incident reviews, or control failures. By forcing analysis of why an issue happened rather than only fixing the symptom, it supports continuous improvement. The emphasis on preventing recurrence distinguishes corrective action from a simple one time remediation that leaves the underlying weakness intact.
Looking CAR up is step one. Getting tested on it is step two.
