SOW
Statement of Work
A document defining deliverables, timelines, and scope of a project.
A statement of work is a contractual document that defines specific deliverables, tasks, timelines, milestones, and acceptance criteria for an engagement. In security it scopes activities such as a penetration test or audit, clarifying rules of engagement and what is in or out of bounds. A clear SOW prevents scope creep and disputes over expectations. For the exam, distinguish it from the broader MSA that sets overarching terms and from an SLA that defines ongoing service performance levels.
Looking SOW up is step one. Getting tested on it is step two.
