Internet Service Provider
A company that provides internet connectivity.
An ISP supplies the connectivity that links an organization to the wider internet and often provides supporting services such as routing and basic filtering. From a security standpoint ISPs can assist with upstream mitigation, for example absorbing or blackholing volumetric denial of service traffic before it reaches the customer. They are also part of supply chain and availability considerations, since outages or misconfigured peering can disrupt service even when internal systems remain healthy.
