SCADA

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition

Systems that monitor and control large-scale industrial processes.

SCADA is a category of industrial control system used to monitor and command geographically dispersed processes such as power grids, water treatment, and pipelines. These environments often run legacy protocols with little built in authentication, so compromise can cause physical damage, not just data loss. The exam stresses protecting them through network segmentation, isolation from corporate IT, and careful change control, since downtime and safety concerns make routine patching harder than on standard systems.
