Secure Hash Algorithm
A family of cryptographic hash functions, with SHA-2 and SHA-3 recommended.
SHA is a family of one way hash functions that produce a fixed length digest used to verify integrity and to support digital signatures and password storage. SHA-1 is deprecated because practical collision attacks undermine its assurances, so SHA-2 and SHA-3 are the recommended choices on SY0-701. Because hashing alone is not encryption and does not provide confidentiality, password use should add salting and a slow key derivation function to resist brute force cracking.
