BCP

Business Continuity Plan

The plan for keeping critical business functions running during and after a disruption.

A BCP is the overarching plan for keeping critical business functions operating during and after a disruption, spanning people, processes, facilities, and technology, not just IT recovery. It draws on a business impact analysis to prioritize functions and define acceptable downtime. Distinguish it from a disaster recovery plan, which is the narrower, technology-focused subset for restoring systems and data; the BCP is broader and addresses the whole organization's resilience, including alternate sites and manual workarounds.
