CASB

Cloud Access Security Broker

A control point between users and cloud services that enforces security policy.

A CASB sits between users and cloud providers to extend on premises security policy into SaaS and other cloud services, addressing the visibility gap created by sanctioned and shadow IT usage. It typically enforces controls across four pillars: visibility, compliance, data security, and threat protection. Deployment can be inline as a forward or reverse proxy, or out of band through provider APIs. Each mode trades real time enforcement against coverage of unmanaged devices and applications.
