MaaS delivers system, performance, and security monitoring as a subscription service hosted by a provider rather than run entirely in house. It lets organizations gain visibility and alerting without building and staffing their own around the clock infrastructure, shifting capital cost to operating expense. Trade offs include sending telemetry to a third party and depending on its availability. It is one of many cloud service offerings and should not be confused with the MaaS abbreviation for malware as a service.
