MTTF
Mean Time to Failure
The average lifespan of a non-repairable component.
Mean time to failure estimates the average lifespan of a nonrepairable component before it fails and must be replaced, such as a disk drive or power supply. It guides procurement, warranty planning, and how aggressively spares and redundancy are stocked for resilience. Because the item is not repaired, it differs from MTBF, which assumes the system is fixed and returned to service. Used with MTTR, these metrics help estimate overall availability and support business continuity decisions.
Mean Time To Failure: for things you replace rather than repair (one-and-done components).
Looking MTTF up is step one. Getting tested on it is step two.
