SLA

Service Level Agreement

A contract defining expected service levels and remedies.

An SLA is a contractual agreement that defines measurable service commitments such as uptime, response times, and support levels, along with remedies or penalties when targets are missed. It is central to managing third party and vendor risk, setting expectations that can be monitored and enforced. The exam distinguishes it from related documents like the MOU, which is less formal, the MSA, which sets overarching terms, and the SOW, which scopes specific work.
