Access Point
A device that lets wireless clients connect to a wired network.
An AP bridges wireless clients to a wired network, broadcasting one or more SSIDs and handling association, authentication, and frame forwarding. Securing it means strong encryption such as WPA3, changed default credentials, and controlled management access, because an exposed AP is an easy entry point. Two exam-relevant threats are the rogue AP, an unauthorized device plugged into the network, and the evil twin, an attacker-controlled AP impersonating a legitimate SSID to harvest credentials or perform on-path attacks.
