COPE

Corporate-Owned, Personally Enabled

A device model where the company owns the device but allows personal use.

COPE is a mobile deployment model in which the organization purchases and owns the device but permits reasonable personal use, balancing corporate control with user convenience. Because the company owns the hardware, it can mandate encryption, enforce policy through management tooling, and wipe the device while still respecting personal data boundaries. This gives stronger oversight than BYOD, where the user owns the device. It contrasts with strict corporate only models that forbid personal use entirely.
