Wireless Access Point
A device that bridges wireless clients to a wired network.
A wireless access point bridges Wi-Fi clients to the wired LAN and broadcasts one or more SSIDs that enforce the chosen security mode. Because it extends the network over radio, its placement, transmit power, and encryption settings directly shape the attack surface. A central exam concern is the rogue or evil twin access point, where an attacker stands up a look-alike AP to capture traffic. Controls include wireless intrusion detection, strong WPA settings, and disabling insecure legacy options.
