DBA

Database Administrator

The role responsible for managing and securing databases.

A Database Administrator manages the performance, availability, backup, and security of database systems. From a security standpoint the DBA enforces least-privilege accounts, auditing, encryption at rest, and timely patching of the database engine. Because the role holds powerful privileges, DBA accounts are high-value targets and are often placed under privileged access management.
