PTZ

Pan-Tilt-Zoom

A camera that can rotate horizontally and vertically and zoom, often remotely controlled.

A PTZ camera can pan side to side, tilt up and down, and zoom in on detail, letting a single unit cover a wide area and follow activity under operator or automated control. It is a common physical detective control for surveillance of facilities and data centers. Because it is networked and remotely controllable, it must be hardened with strong credentials, current firmware, and network segmentation to avoid becoming an entry point. On the exam, treat surveillance cameras, including PTZ, as physical detective and deterrent controls.
