Video surveillance, a physical detective and deterrent control.
CCTV is a video surveillance system that monitors and records physical spaces, functioning as both a detective control that captures events for later review and a deterrent that discourages intruders. It supports investigations by providing visual evidence and can be paired with motion detection or analytics for alerting. Retention, camera placement, and lighting strongly affect usefulness. Because footage alone does not stop an act in progress, it is best layered with locks, guards, and access controls.
Looking CCTV up is step one. Getting tested on it is step two.
