NFC

Near Field Communication

Very short-range wireless used for contactless payments and pairing.

Near field communication is a very short range wireless technology, working only a few centimeters away, used for contactless payments, access badges, and quick device pairing. The limited range reduces but does not eliminate risk, since eavesdropping, relay attacks, and rogue readers remain concerns. Securing it relies on encryption at the application layer, tokenization for payments, and requiring user action or device unlock. For the exam, contrast its centimeter scale with Bluetooth and RFID, which operate over greater distances.
