Detects and actively blocks wireless threats such as rogue APs.
A WIPS extends wireless monitoring with active response, able to contain rogue access points or unauthorized clients, often by sending deauthentication frames or alerting infrastructure to block them. It combines the detection role of a WIDS with prevention, mirroring the IDS versus IPS distinction on the wired side. Because automated containment can disrupt legitimate neighboring networks, careful policy and tuning are required to avoid collateral impact or potential legal concerns.
