Simultaneous Authentication of Equals
The WPA3 handshake that resists offline password cracking.
SAE is the WPA3 Personal handshake that replaces the WPA2 pre-shared key exchange, using a balanced password authenticated key agreement based on a dragonfly exchange. It provides forward secrecy and resists the offline dictionary attacks that plagued WPA2, where a captured handshake could be cracked at leisure. Because each session derives fresh keys, recording traffic does not let an attacker decrypt it later even if the passphrase is eventually guessed.
