TKIP
Temporal Key Integrity Protocol
A deprecated WPA encryption protocol replaced by CCMP.
Temporal Key Integrity Protocol was introduced with WPA as a stopgap to fix the broken WEP encryption without requiring new hardware, adding per packet key mixing and a message integrity check. It still relies on the weak RC4 cipher and is now deprecated and insecure. It was replaced by CCMP, which is based on AES. On the exam, place TKIP in the progression from WEP to WPA to WPA2, and remember to select CCMP or AES over TKIP.
